Joy Sunday Porciuncula

Joy Sunday Porciuncula, 81 of Portland, TN passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 30, 2023, in Sumner Regional Medical Center

Joy was born on October 29, 1942, the daughter of Joseph George Messina and Erma Alberta Martini Messina. When you think of Joy, you think of love. Joy and love just go together and she lived up to her name. She was the most loving person who never met a stranger. Joy loved her family deeply; they were her world. Joy was a wonderful caregiver to her beloved mother and aunt. She was also a fierce animal lover being dog mom to Trixie, Karma, Bosco and Levi. 

Wonderful memories from her children were the times Joy would take hours to make her famous Cantonese Chicken Salad, a delight enjoyed by all. Joy also loved things that were unique, like a set of earrings she made. Joy was also one of " Days", (Days of Our Lives) most devoted fans. She also enjoyed Country music especially songs by George Jones, Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton.

Joy will be missed my many. Her light will never dim from our hearts.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Todd Porciuncula and Crystal Bennett both of Portland, TN, her grandchildren, Ryan Bennett, Chelsea Bennett and Brandi Bennett, her great grandchildren, Hannah Grace Bennett, James Douglas Bennett and Parker Skye Henley along with many friends.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Erma Messina.

It was Joy's wish to be cremated and a private service will be held at a later date.
