Irene D. (Denney) Mercer
June 19, 1932 ~ March 4, 2023 (age 90) 90 Years Old
Age 90 of Goodlettsville, TN went home to be with her Lord on March 4, 2023 at her home surrounded by those she loved. Irene was born in Gallatin, TN on June 19, 1932 the daughter of the late Thomas Burr Denney and Laura Todd Denney.
Irene loved to help others and did so in many, many ways. For most of her life she worked in retail assisting customers with anything they needed. She was so efficient, one day her boss from Woolworth where she retired from, told her he “wished he had 2 of her”. Irene’s love for helping others comes from her strong faith and love of Jesus. She loved her family very much. They meant the world to her. Irene was a dedicated member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church for 54 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Margaret Reed, Annette Funk, and Edith Cosicio. Nieces, Teresa Anderson (William), Karen Eubank (Dee), nephew, Donald Light. Great nieces, Kimberly Shelton (David), Lori Little, Amanda Tisdale (Josh). Great nephew, Daniel Eubank (April). Great grandnieces, Kayla Shelton, Ashley Little, Haley Eubank, great grandnephews, Blake Shelton, Justin Shelton, Baley Eubank, and Gunner Tisdale.
Along with her parents, Irene is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Dennis Mercer, her twin sister, Lorene Light, brothers, B.L. Denney, Odell Denney, Allen Denney, Lawrence Denney, Edward Denney, and great grandnephew, Alexander Little.
Today we celebrate the life of a gentle, humble, precious woman who will be missed by many. Her light will never dim from our hearts.
