Earl "Buck" Smith

August 8, 1960 ~ September 23, 2019 (age 59) 59 Years Old


Earl “Buck” Smith passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on September 23, 2019. He was born on August 8, 1960 in Detroit, Michigan to Kemp Smith and Vivian Lawfield Smith.

Earl was his family’s Super Hero. He was a strong man who fought to the end. He was a loving husband and a wonderful Daddy and super Granddaddy. He loved fishing, camping, yard work, riding his Harley, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching his Colts play. He was a good man who loved life. He also loved to eat, especially sweets. His favorite time of year was Thanksgiving.

His first visit to the beach was to Panama City where he stood on the shore and an unexpected wave washed up and took his flip flops. After a big chuckle, Melody said, “Stand still, they will be right back when the wave comes in again.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Melody Smith; daughters Ashley Smith (Chris) and Amber Canny (Ryan); sons Anthony Jones (Alivia), Gene Jones, Robert Jones (Emily), Steve “Kermey” Jones and Timothy Likens. A sister; Lori Basham; Nieces and Nephews; Morgan, Josh, Jake, Eric, Tasha, Randy and Danielle He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren; Loretta, Marley, Lindsay, Collin, Vivian, Braidan, Adalwulf, Austin, Jaeger, Addisyn, Rayce and Annabelle. As well as two brother and sisters-in-laws, Robert Begdorff (Heather) and Joe Begdorff (Shelly) and their children.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; Kemp and Vivian Smith and two sisters; Cindy Bowers and Sherri Reigns.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the family.

The family has chosen cremation. No services are scheduled at this time. Church & Chapel Funeral Service, Portland, TN has been honored with the arrangements.
