David Reed Day

David Reed Day, 80 of Portland, TN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at home surrounded by his loved ones.

David was born in Franklin, KY on October 10, 1942, the son of Ernest and Edith Gray. He graduated from Franklin-Simpson High School.

David was a quiet, gentle man who loved his family. He loved to tinker in his shop and could fix just about anything. He will be remembered by many folks in Portland, TN as he was their mail carrier for over 30 years. In his free time and especially after retiring, David loved to play golf, shoot pool and garden. 

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Ginger Tillison (Ricky Parks), Kristi Irish (Daniel) all of Portland, his sisters, June Davis (Jerry) and Shirley Freedle, all of Franklin, KY, his grandchildren, Chelsea Hudson, Logan Ashworth and Gunner Irish, his great-grandson, Mason Ashworth, his nephews and their spouses and his soulmate and best friend, Eileen Santangelo.

David was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Hank Ashworth.

He will be dearly missed: his light will never dim from our hearts.
